Saturday in the Kitchen

Simple Woman’s Daybook

Outside my window… Sky the color of ashes. One very, very dead tomato plant.

I am thinking…It has been an odd summer weather wise more grey than blue, more cool than warm. Wondering what fall and winter will be like. August is tomorrow, how did July slip by so quietly. 39 days until school starts, oh dear. And, is that? I think I smell a skunk outside which wold be very, very odd.

I am thankful for…Getting to sleep in, having a small child crawl in bed and spoon with me. Oh and then coffee. Nirvana.

From the learning rooms… Researching.

From the kitchen…Homemade bread for toast, with peach jam. Tried a new recipe, and the pane casereccio, looks as it should, bread of the home, I may try for a prettier shape.

I think I will make cookies today, the jar looks lonely.

I am wearing…P.J’s. and a robe. I slept in remember. Bare feet. Regulation ponytail.

I am creating… Schemes and dreams and wonderful things.Hatching a plan for a women’s group at school. A better resume.

I am going…Birthday shopping for Beauty.

I am reading
Possum Living by Dottie Freed, for giggles and Here on Earth, by Alice Hoffman for book club.

I am hoping..The Genius Bar calls and I can get the MAC back from its spa treatment. I am having trouble posting with this computer. That and Coach bought a lottery ticket for fun…..

I am hearing…It is so quiet I wonder what t
hey are up to, feet walking upstairs, someone is building something a few houses down. The mockingbird calling its mate.

Around the house…Projects. Chores.

One of my favorite things…My blog, it is wonderful to hear from friends old and new.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Beauty turns ten on
Tuesday. 10 whoa. A decade with this child and her dancing green eyes, swinging blonde hair and force of nature presence.  Sarah Lee, the dog, goes home tomorrow, I will miss her sweet and loving nature,Hoover will miss his buddy. My sister comes home and will share her adventure.

I will post later today with the One Thing a Day.
