St. John’s Drums

October 19, 2010

We watched it rain today, counting  seconds from lightning to thunder.

And wondered whether or not St. John would play his drums so loud all night up above.

Imagine  you are warm and cozy in a lavender-scented kindy room, softly illuminated by candlelight and the pattering of rain outside.

The story is long over, the rocker creaks as she sits and knits.

After your rest, while others doze, you perch on the windowsill to watch the big kids and whisper about umbrellas,  the zap of lightning,  the roar of thunder and the  size of raindrops.

Wow! Did you hear that one?

( excuse the photos all from my phone),

hope you all had your galoshes on~
I thought I was in Indiana today with all the thunder and lightening–but
I checked and I was still here washing my closet walls.

Instead of watching the downpour, I cooked and cooked. I made salmon cakes for dinner (with a red bellpepper, shallots, green onion, parsley, sour cream, bread crumb, and Dijon mustard–my own recipe!), lentil salad with a couple of Indian spices, tuna, cilantro, lemon juice, and tomatoes from our garden, and baked an apple pie with spices galore! Yes, lovely to hunker down in one’s home and fill the space with redolent scents of delicious homemade foods! I love these slow, perforce by happenstance of weather, days of wealth and breath.

    Thank you!

Gosh, when is dinner? It sounds so warm and lovely. Yesterday definitely made me miss my cozy house and crackling fireplace.
