Ode to Sushi

April 8, 2011

An Ode to Sushi

Spinning in circles tiny flowers of purple and pink

The swirl of a lifetime

Once a vibrant blue now a soft slate

Sushi fish living on the breakfront no more

Spinning down the drain, your final fate.

Sushi died yesterday, at least we think it was yesterday. Always a rebel, he sunk instead of floating, thus we might be off a day. Although he longed to preform with SPLASH the H2O Circus for Bowl Fish, alas, his back flips were sub par. We often comforted him by tapping on the glass and making funny faces at him through the water. Sometimes an extra fish pellet or two. We’ll miss you aquatic buddy, happy waterways to you .

Already the clamor for “another fish” has begun. I may use my, ahem, mourning as a delay tactic.

Ooohhh, did anyone feed him regularly like daily?? He was such a pretty color, we never did hit it off tho. I did try here and there, but he was so shy~~ I couldn’t get a word out of ’em.

How come you didn’t let us have fish as kids?
YES mother, he glubbed his daily ration of 5-7 pellets. That how we figured out his demise. No bobbing to nibble. Did you know Betta fish don’t get oxygen from within the water, they get it from the surface. HA I did.
